Nonlinear creep properties and time-to-failure prediction of sandstone under saturated and dry conditions

The moisture content of rock significantly influences its time-dependent deformation behavior. This paper studied the creep behavior sandstone under saturated and dry conditions different driving stress ratio (not same level).Their impacts on time-to-failure (TTF) were also investigated. results show that an identical ratio, specimens' strain steady-state rate are relatively higher than those ones. Nevertheless, water-saturated specimen has a shorter path TTF due to softening effect water. It is evident in terms rate, impact much more significant content; however, TTF, plays dominant role. rationality generalized Kelvin, Burgers, power-law models evaluated based experimental data. model was found be capable fitting test data, better predicting other two models.
